Ah, what a summer…

Wedding Singer
How I loved loved loved playing at Rod and Gene's Wedding down in Maryland. An absolute honor to be part of their same gender union. (P.S. No more mixed gender weddings for me – not until we can all drink from that water fountain!) Dave "Princess Prism" Turan oversaw the ritual with his usual beauty and panache. And there were so many nice people like Dan Vera of White Crane Journal and oh, what a privilege to meet the remarkable visionaries Johannes and Christian Zinzendorf of The Hermitage, dressed up in flax formalwear they had sown and sewn themselves!

Strip Joint
Had a fairly fantastic gig at New York City's shabby chic neo-burlesque joint The Slipper Room. It was the opening night of the city's annual Fresh Fruit Festival and I had a blast! What a great audience: a warm, receptive full house with Rob Gilheany rocking out in the first row. I was proud to share the bill with the amazingly talented (and so sweet) Buttafly Soul aka Leslie Taylor who MC'd, charming the pants off us all with witty and rather wonderful spoken word and stellar vocals. The incomparable Lisa Jackson finished off the night with a tight solo set, wowing the crowd with her crazy-good guitar licks and vocals. (Buttafly Soul and I were loving her from backstage, foolishly playing air guitar…)

New CD.
I'm really happy to be releasing "David Brown Live Shows." I've been thinking about producing this record for so long now…procrastinating like there's no tomorrow. Actually, I was just telling Super Nanny Dina Brown that my new motto is "What are you waiting for?" She told me hers was "What's the rush?" I threw my head back and laughed out loud. I officially released it this past weekend at the LIGALY On-the-Bay Benefit – one of the goodies in the take home goodie bag. The swanky-sweet event was another great success: gorgeous location, fine weather, The Noah Bloom Quartet, and fab guests including Alan Cumming and Terrance McNally. The event brings in buckets of money to help make the world a safer place for gay youth. Go LIGALY!

New CD?
Speaking of "no more procrastinating," people have been asking me about a new studio album for a long, long time. Princess Prism, Mike, Rachelle…I'll do it, I swear! I've finally recorded two songs in Bruce Whitcomb's 26th Street Studio (the song "Magic" and the very new "The Last Time I Saw Sharon") I've also finished 10 home recordings in preparation for more studio time – so it's coming. (What are you waiting for?) Looks like I'm going to finish recording it out on Long Island where I've been living for the summer in the little tony town of Bellport. A little recording, a little pool time…Ah, what a summer.

And on that note, Sayonara.
Send me luck. I send you love.
